“The parties, the hazing, the friends, singing.” - Richard N Walton, ’56

“The Great Christmas Tree Caper: In early December of 1964, several Brothers from the Class of 1965 went out to find a Christmas tree for the LCA House. Instead of buying the tree at a local vendor, the Brothers decided to venture out into the local community to cut down the tree. Unfortunately, the Brothers cut down a 14' blue spruce from the front lawn of a residence in Sunbury which was owned by a local judge. When the Dean of Men toured the fraternity houses prior to the gala Christmas parties, he remarked "What a beautiful tree." Little did he know that the tree had been cut down in the dead of night by two LCA Brothers from the front lawn of a local judge. After the Christmas Party, the tree was stripped of its decorations and the pledges threw it out behind the house for our garbage man, Doberman, to remove along with the trash. Doberman had trouble handling the large tree and left it for another time when he had more men to hoist the tree into his trash truck. In the meantime the Brothers went home for Christmas. During the Christmas vacation the State Police decided to visit the Bucknell fraternities in their investigation of the purloined blue spruce. They took a cutting from the base of the tree found behind the LCA house and matched it up to the stump on the Judge's front lawn. The cutting was a perfect match. The jig was up. When we returned from semester break, the Dean of Men threatened the LCA House with double -triple social probation unless the culprits turned themselves in to the authorities. The two Brothers copped a plea and turned themselves in to mean Dean Meyn who gave them one year of social probation and loss of driving privileges. In addition, the LCA House had to make restitution of $500 for the tree. In 1964 a Christmas tree could be purchased for around $5.00, so this turned out to be a very expensive Christmas tree. This unfortunate conclusion did not stop the Brothers from doing the same thing the following year. After all, the cutting of the Christmas tree in the dead of night had become somewhat of a tradition.” - Richard W. Stewart, ’66

“I remember 1988 Alum David "OX" Golod as House Manager waking up the brothers responsible for 2am mop duty after a party using a lawnmower in their rooms. I laugh at two of our worst attempts at theme parties "Lay in the Hay" and "North/South." Poor turnout but live chickens running through the house & North/South line chugs with the brothers are times I will never forget. Tops has to be the brothers playing naked wiffle ball in the back of the house. The sheep from the farm behind the house were very nervous!” - Jack Reiner, ’87
